HCA Special meeting about Highfields Centre’s successful and much needed services and staff being put at risk by Leicester City Council on Thursday 13th March 2014 at 6pm at Highfields Centre
Over the last 3 years and since achieving community governance in December 2010, Highfields Centre has continued to successfully deliver a wide range of arts, sports, community, adult learning, children & young people, advice and business support services to local residents.
Contrary to all earlier statements by the city mayor and senior council officers, Sir Peter Soulsby informed us last November that he doesn’t intend to continue funding any services at this Centre. However, he agreed to provide a further 3 month funding (until end February 2014) to enable him to respond to our reasonable questions about the level and pace of cuts he wished to inflict on the Centre’s staff and services. But, he hasn’t done so and we’d like to:
- Share the latest information about the city mayor’s threat to the Centre’s funding
- Consider how we respond to the city mayor’s intended cuts
- Identify what you can do to help the city mayor to change his mind
We have invited local councillors and the MP to this meeting
Please confirm your attendance by contacting reception and we look forward to meeting you on 13th March.
